Best Free Bets

Top 6 Free Bets in UK & Ireland

What they’re offering you

And here’s what you can look forward to from the best bookies around.

Paddy Power

Paddys offer to match your first-ever bet, with a free bet, up to a maximum of €20. A minimum bet of €5 is needed to qualify and the odds on the qualifying bet must be at ½ (1.5), or greater.

The free bet stake is not returned so to maximize your potential winnings, you might as well have it at a longer, rather than shorter price. Paddy Power are well known for their betting promotions, including money-back specials, as well as their controversial adverts. There’s never a dull moment with this lot.

Betfair

The Hammersmith-based firm will give you up to €100 in bonus money when you make your first  deposit. Deposit 20, get an extra 20. Deposit 50, get an extra 50. And so on.

Betfair now combines its game-changing betting exchange facility, with its reliable Sportsbook and in doing so, has made its mark as one of the top online betting sites.

The Sportsbook has plenty of promotions on various events but it’s for the exchange facility that you really need to sign up.

You will get better prices on Betfair for just about any bet you wish to place. After all, when it’s their customer base of over 1 million active clients  that are laying you odds, it’s inevitable someone will offer you a better price  than what a bookmaker would give you.

The ability to lay a selection, as well as to back it, is of huge benefit. Some punters find it easier to decide on who won’t win something rather than who will, and can profit from using this strategy.

Place-only markets on horseracing, as opposed to each-way selections, are another avenue you can explore to make profits.

You can also trade the markets during an event. If you originally back a price that shortens or originally lay a price that lengthens, you can guarantee yourself a profit just by doing the opposite to what you first did. It’s a practice well-suited to sports where the market suffers big fluctuations- like ODI cricket or tennis- but can actually be applied to any sport.

Trading is very much the cherry on the cake and just another great reason to have a Betfair Account.

BetVictor

You get 40 GBP/Euros in free bets just by placing your first 10 GBP/Euro bet. To take full advantage, you need to place the following bets.

  • £10 in pre-match football bets
  • £10 in live football bets
  • £10 in football accas (minimum 5 folds)
  • £10 on any sportsbook market

Bet Victor have best odds guaranteed on all Irish and UK horse racing, and often offer extra places on big races, as well as major golf tournaments.

You can also watch live racing on your PC by placing a bet with a minimum value of £/€1. Bet Victor always offer very competitive odds on horse racing and are best price on more horses than any other bookmaker. A must-have account.

Coral

This seasoned bookmaker now has a new and improved free bet offer.

Open an account, place a £/€5 (or greater) bet at odds of ½ (1.5) or bigger, and receive £/€20 in Free Bets immediately, divided into four bets, each of 5 GBP/Euros.

You don’t even need to wait for your qualifying bet to be settled. This is a great offer given you only need to deposit €5 in order to have €25 to bet with. Just bear in mind it’s only open to UK and Republic of Ireland residents.

Coral offer best price guaranteed on all Irish and UK horse racing so if you take an early price and the SP is bigger, you get paid out at the SP.

Coral also have a mobile app and if you place a £/€1 or greater bet on any UK or Irish horse race, then you can watch it live online on the Coral website.

Betfred

They offer up to £30 in free bets, when you place a £10 qualifying bet. The offer is only for UK residents and the bet must be placed within 30 days of opening your account.  You also need to make sure the odds on your selection must be at evens (2.0) or greater to qualify.

Betfred offer best odds guaranteed on all UK and Irish horse racing, and have a very good in-play scorecentre for their Sportsbook, giving you comprehensive stats on all live in-running football games.

Other promotions beyond the welcome offer include three times the odds for one winner in a lucky 15, double the price on first goalscorer bets if they go on to score again, and treble the odds if they get a hat trick.

Boylesports

You can get up to 25 GBP/Euros in free bets, though the method of getting them is admittedly a bit complex, so check the terms and conditions.

Your first bet must be for at least €/£5 and must be placed the same day as opening the account for you to qualify for the free bet. Boylesports always have various attractive promotions to keep you interested so good on them for that.

Current ones include: paying 6 places on the Irish Open (golf) and money back if just one of the selections in your acca (must contain at least five selections) lets you down.

Betdaq

Will give UK and Irish customers free bets up to €200. You need to enter the promotional code ALLBDQ03 while registering. New customers now get put on a 0% commission rate for the first month.

Betting Exchanges like Betdaq almost always offer prices better than bookies’ odds (see the Betfair explanation above), so you really need at least one exchange account.

You can also lay horses or football teams that you think are worth opposing, effectively meaning you’re playing the role of bookie.

Betdaq then take a commission (from winning customers only) for using their services that allowed you to make money. Fair enough.

Betdaq are the second biggest betting exchange and while everyone should have a Betfair account as a matter of principle, you can get a better commission rate at Betdaq. That’s because they’ve capped the maximum commision rate at 5% rather than applying Betfair’s controversial Premium Charge  which was designed to charge highly-successful big-hitters much larger rates of commission.

The key to successful betting

Whether you’re betting for fun as a way of adding a few thrills to the act of watching your favourite sports or seriously trying to make a go of winning money through gambling, there’s one thing everyone has to make sure they do.

And that’s having multiple betting accounts.

Getting the best price on every bet you strike can be the difference between being up or down in the long run. Think about the difference between getting a quote of 3.0 or 3.5 on a 100 GBP bet that goes on to win. Now multiply that sort of difference by 100 times, a rough estimate of the number of winning bets you may have in the space of say six months.  It all adds up and we could be talking about a difference of 100s and 100s of pounds here.

The only surefire way of always getting the ‘best price’ (the highest odds offered across the market) is to have multiple accounts. That way you can shop around and take the odds offered by the bookmaker who’s being the most generous on the particular outcome you wish to bet on.

And with the generous free bets most bookmakers offer to new customers these days, there’s really no excuse not to have accounts with all of them.

We’ve done all the hard work for you

I took a look at some of the welcome offers made available from a selection of the most highly recommended bookies around. I also added a brief summary of the key terms and conditions and included any promo codes you need to claim the offers. As an added bonus- no pun intended- I also added details of bonuses and other promos that they give you after you’ve taken your welcome offer.

It only takes a minute of your time to open a new account, and there’s no need to leave funds in each of them. It’s easy to transfer money in and out these days.

There’s little point spending hours studying the form, statistics and other variables if you’re not going to maximise your profits when your bets come in. Not every bet is going to win so you need to make sure you cash in to the full on the ones that do.

So here’s a little golden formula that I’ve put together to sum the whole thing up.

Open New Accounts = Get Free Bets + Get Best Price = Maximizing Gambling Profits.
