Sweden’s qualification for the 2008 European Championships was their fifth consecutive major tournament that they have qualified for, having finished 2nd in their section behind Spain. Well renowned for having an army of colourful fans, Sweden will be hoping their support will help them better the semi-final finish they achieved back in 1992. There was some controversy in Sweden’s qualification for the Championships after they were awarded a 3-0 victory versus fellow Scandinavians Denmark after a Danish fan attacked the referee after he awarded a late penalty with the sides tied at 3 goals each!
