The French Grand Prix, held at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, was under serious threat after the 2007 race due to a lack of funding and the fact it isn’t overly popular with the drivers due to the remote location but thanks to some last minute discussions it was announced that a race would be held there in 2008 and you could be glad these discussions took place if you take advantage of the free bets on offer from Betfair and Skybet. Originally built in 1960 the course was a little over one mile in distance and by 1969 the course record was a mere 49 seconds!

The course was extended so that it was now two tracks interconnected and this was unveiled to the racing world in 1971. The race owes its Formula One status to former French President, Francois Mitterand, as he redeveloped the area around the race course to try and entice the best racing teams in France. The Formula One parade finally visited in 1991 and it has been a permanent fixture ever since. The Ferrari team in particular enjoy the French Grand Prix with a total of fifteen victories since racing began there. None of the current crop of drivers have been able to dominate like Michael Schumacher did with his 8 career wins there but 2007 winner, Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen does have a good record of a win, a second place and finishing in the points in each of the last five years he has taken part. It was a famous Ferrari 1-2 last year with Lewis Hamilton coming in third for yet another podium finish, can they reproduce that form again?
