The Oaks Stakes is a Group 1 flat race which is part of the five British Classic races which take place in Great Britain every year. It is run at Epsom Downs Racecourse over one mile, four furlongs and is only three-year old thoroughbred fillies are permitted to enter. With a purse of £375k up for grabs the top horses, jockeys and trainers will be present and the bets will be raining in. The course at Epsom Downs is notoriously difficult and often catches out the young, inexperienced horses, which most of the horses running at the Oaks are. The 2007 winner was a 13/2 chance and the runner-up Peeping Fawn was a 20/1outsider. Although Kieron Fallon rode home the 9/4 favourite in 2006 it was the 33/1 Rising Cross that was the money earner for some lucky punters who placed a bet on an outside chance.
