Opening an account
Head to this page and go through a short registration process. You’re always better off ticking the box saying you’d like to receive e-mails about promotions in the future. You can always just ignore them but that’s better than missing out on something interesting.
It’s best to leave the box about offers and promotions ticked.
At the moment, you can choose between two Welcome Offers when you sign up to Ladbrokes.
Free matched bet up to 50 GBP/Euros
Make sure that when you register your account, you enter promo code F50. When you place your first-ever bet, you’ll get a free bet for the same amount, up to 50 GBP/Euros.
It’s worth reading all the terms and conditions for the offer, because there are a few important details but here are the main ones:
- It’s only open to UK and Ireland residents.
- The qualifying bet must be at odds of 1.5 or greater.
- You’ll have fourteen days after registering your account to place the qualifying bet and four days after receiving the free bet to use that one.
- Don’t use Moneybookers, Paysafe, Neteller or Skrill to deposit money into your account or else you won’t be eligible for the free bet.
Bet 5 GBP/Euros, get 20 GBP/Euros
To get this one, you need to enter promo code B5G20 instead. Rather than getting the equivalent of your first bet matched as a free bet, here you only need to deposit 5 GBP/Euros and place a bet for that amount to receive 20 GBP/Euros in free bets, divided into 4x 5GBP/Euros bets.
Most of the main ground rules are the same as those just summarized above but as ever, it’s worth reading the full terms and conditions to avoid disappointment.
Which of the two is better? Well, that depends on your own personal preference and you should bear in mind you have to choose one or the other when you sign up, you can’t choose both. I suppose you could argue you get more value for your money with the second but then again, if both your qualifying bet at the maximum amount of 50 GBP/Euros and your free bet for that amount both win, you will have had a very good start to life at Ladbrokes.
Other Welcome offers
Interestingly, Ladbrokes also offer several other Welcome Offers to new customers. Most of them revolve around offering huge odds on events that are quite likely to happen with winnings normally paid as a free bet. The caveat? Normally the maximum bet you can place is just 1 GBP/Euro seeing as they obviously don’t want to take too many risks.
That means you’re never likely to be able to win that much but then again, there’s little harm in taking part given that at worst you’ll lose a quid.
You certainly can’t fault the Ladbrokes Marketing Team when it comes to offering a load of current offers. From industry-wide ones such refunding money if your 5-way acca loses by just one leg to guaranteeing best odds on horseracing.
Others include boosting prices on popular selections in high-profile sporting events and being able to request odds on selections of your choice, using the #GetAPrice.
Take a look at them all right here.

As you’d expect from one of the most established bookmakers in the UK, they have one heck of a Sportsbook to boast. All the sports and plenty of markets to choose from.
A combination of the old-school popular markets that most punters want to bet on and those combo bets that some customers like to play these days. Player X to score and for there to be three or more goas in the match, and so on.
But where you can see the real difference between a classic Sportsbook like Ladbrokes, as opposed to another like Coral, is in how everything looks and feels. With Coral it all appears to have got stuck in 2003 whereas Ladbrokes’ site is clean, neat, easy to navigate, nice to look at and easy to use, whatever you’re doing. Ladbrokes have really kept up with the times and realized that this is a fast-growing industry and as such, you’re only as good as how much people like your site.
As is the case with other bookies like Bet365, they don’t often go best price and they don’t often go worst price, either. So you’ll always get a fair quote on your selection but you have to dig hard to get a bigger price than what everyone else is offering and very rarely are guilty of making ricks- a price that is simply wrong (too big) as a result of a mistake. Yeah, they’re too experienced to be making mistakes like that.
Despite all the progress being made by bookmakers in terms of more competitive odds, live streaming, customers being able to request bets, fun and innovative bonuses, the one area where they fail to make any progress at all is with Customer Service. If anything, it seems to be getting worse.
And when we say Customer Service, what we mean is…Customer Experience. It’s not the talking on the phone or exchanging e-mails with their staff that’s the big issue here- in this regard it’s probably no better or worse than other industries- it’s the other stuff. Like being able to withdraw your winnings without being asked for five different forms of identification which most people don’t necessarily have to hand all the time. Or them insisting that you’ve just been chosen for a random security check the day you’ve finally secured a big win.
Again, Ladbrokes aren’t necessarily any worse than everyone else but as such a reputable company if longevity is anything to go by, we’d expect better from them.
We haven’t mentioned it up to now but now is as good a time as any: Ladbrokes boast a betting exchange in addition to the Sportsbook so if backing and laying, trading and all the other stuff is up your street, it’s a nice addition to have. The liquidity isn’t as good as on Betfair, as you’d expect, but it’s probably on a par with Betdaq.
There’s also lots of in-play action going on all day and a decent supply of matches available on their livestreaming service.
All in all Ladbrokes have a pretty good product, as you’d expect from one of the leading players. If all you want to do is play, then you’ll be pretty happy. But if you see sports betting as a way of making money rather than just a hobbie, you’ll be as frustrated with money matters with Ladbrokes as you will with most of the rest.
